Conflicted

I love KFC. In fact, WonderWife™ and I met over a bucket of the Colonel's finest and every year to mark that occasion, we eat fried chicken together. So to us, it's sacrilege to eat anything but during the once a year we feast on KFC.

However, I also have a love for new products. And KFC has recently offered up this:

Kentucky Grilled Chicken. I must admit that I'm fascinated. So much to the chagrin of WonderWife™, who disapproves of my interest in this kind of bucket, I think I might have to try it.

What do you think?

Nope. Crispy original here. If you want to get really wild, popcorn chicken.
Of course that would throw my healthy eating straight under a bus....
Cute that you meet up over a bucket as tradition .

Seeing that burned my retinas.

Don't think I've ever heard or read this before "[name] and I met over a bucket of the Colonel's finest." So that part is cool.
The grilled chicken? I think if you're going to have poultry in a bucket, the poultry absolutely should be breaded and fried beyond recognition. But I'm looking forward to your review!

I love KFC, but my wife hates it....I'm always leary of their new stuff, like that bowl thingy they had with chicken and mashed taters and corn and gravy.

I stink to they're good ole fashioned extra crispy chicken....

And, man, have their friggin prices gone up or what?

Andrea...I do like popcorn chicken, but I love eating around bones better. There's something more carnal about it.

SciFi...Sorry about that. Hopefully your vision will return to normal soon.

Escalator...I knew WW™ was the one for me when she was just as happy to be given fried chicken as I was to give it to her.

Cameron...that KFC bowl thing? An abomination! A bunch of ingredients that have no bearing being all mixed in the same bowl together. Though I didn't try it, it was like something you'd see on "This Is Why You're Fat"

Well, DGB, coming from and residing in the KY, I have to say that as good as the Colonel is, there's better fried Heaven at local Gas Stations and local markets.

I reckon that wouldn't hold the same Romanticism though.

And....chicken that isn't deep fried or barbecued should be punishment for shoplifting.

K...I am a KFC LOVER...and I haven't even heard of that bucket of grilled chicken.

I'll sacrifice and try it for you...

I'm nice like that! :)

I like the CornBread over the biscuits hope that is okay!

clll...Oh I know that KFC is not the best in fried chicken. I've had better. But, as you said, it holds a special place in my heart.

Most people say that pizza is always good, even when it's bad. I disagree. I've never had truly "bad" fried chicken. But living in LA, I have had plenty of "bad" pizza.

Shelle...The grilled buckets just popped up here. I'm wondering if they're testing it in certain markets or if they're rolling it out slowly across the country.

That just seems ... wrong, somehow. It's just not KFC if it's not crunchy. :)

The ZenHusband and I have a KFC tradition, too. In the before-time (BC: Before Children) our favorite day-hike food was to pick up a bucket of KFC the night before, wrap it up tight in tinfoil, stick it in a backpack and have cold, slightly squished chicken on the trail.

We still do the KFC thing when we go camping with the kids. But I still have fond memories of sharing squishy chicken in the woods. :)

Do it, do it!

You don't know until you try. I want some of that crazy-ass heart attack bucket with the popcorn chicken and the gravy and all. Wrap that up in bacon and you're done.

I'm curious about that as well. I've been seeing the commercials recently...please try it and let us know. I'm way too lazy to try it myself. It looks really good, though. :)

You'll have to try it for me.

For some reason I never wander into a KFC looking for healthy food. Its fried or nothing.

Daddy Geek Boy said...

Leanne...the real question is, "How healthy is it really?" I mean it's fast food from a place that typically serves nothing but artery clogging fried goodness. So my guess is that it's not that great for you.

But you guys have decided. A review of Kentucky Grilled Chicken is forthcoming.

i assume from your tags such as "la county fair" and "comiccon" that you're in southern california so. . . fuck kfc; go to roscoe's instead. :P if you really must kill the dreams of local farmers and eat at kfc, the least you can do is go for the grilled bucket ('cuz they're breading is GROSSS!). no offense to you or wonderwife. :P

and now i shall head to my local refrigerator for some roscoe's leftovers. :D

danimo...oh no doubt that Roscoe's kicks ass. Thanks for reading.
